General Admission Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university (In the USA it includes “Regional Accreditation”). The Hebrew University accepts the degree only if at least half of the credits were studied at the degree-granting institution, or in institutions recognized by the Hebrew University.
  2. A minimum average in undergraduate studies that is equivalent to 80 (USA GPA 3.0) is required.
  3. Candidates who completed their Bachelor's degree in a non-Israeli institution of higher education, including a branch in Israel of an overseas institution, must apply through the Overseas Applicants Unit.
  4. Hebrew language skills:  Level Dalet is the minimum requirement for admission to most departments. (more information here). Students in the MA program Contemporary Germany: Politics, Society and Culture are exempt from this requirement.
  5. English language skills: “Upper Advanced” level is the minimum requirement for admission to MA programs taught in English (more information here).
  6. German language skills: Knowledge of the German language is not a pre-requisite for admission into the program, but it is compulsory for all students in order to graduate to complete level B1 according to Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
